The bass is arguably the most important instrument in rock music.  A lot of the greatest guitar solos have come from the cream of the crop when it comes to bass players.  They can’t belt out their rocking performances without the help of an amplifier unless they’re entertaining a crowd of five people.  An amplifier can get your solo from “Hey, I can’t hear you” to “If you don’t turn it down, I’m going to call the police.”
In the ever-increasing obsession with getting louder and more abrasive, amplifiers are evolving to meet the needs of their loyal rockers.  Since these amplifiers are used to project a loud sound over a large area, they’re heavier than normal amplifiers.  That’s why bands often have roadies that could be mistaken for weight lifters.  The most popular bands have pyramids of these bass amplifiers.  You need a lot of manpower to get them up the steps.
If it wasn’t for amplifiers, concerts in large venues would be impossible.  There wouldn’t be such a thing as a rock star if it wasn’t for the epic concerts in front of thousands.  Bass players might not be the star of the show, but they’re certainly going to put on a show.  The lead singer would sound odd without the drums and deafening guitars behind them. 
Keep turning up the volume until your fans can’t take it anymore.  They will endure the pain from their traumatized eardrums to hear you wow the crowd.  If anything, they’re going to want it louder than you could ever imagine.
