Collectible Guitars

Pretty much any guitar that looks good or is in playing condition can be considered in the category of collectible guitars.  Guitar collections are among the most common type of collection out there.  Not every collector is a guitarist either.  Some collectors love to have a series of guitars they love to look at.  After all, you don’t have to know to play a guitar to own one.
Gathering a valuable collection is all about getting the guitars that are worth something in the marketplace and are uncommon.  A model of modern guitar with a million units out there as we speak is going to sell less than a seldom used Les Paul from the 1950s.  The modern guitar will get you a few dollars, but the Les Paul will fetch hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Be careful.  Putting together a solid collection can take a lot of money.  And, as with buying anything, it can become sort of an addiction.  You will become so obsessed with getting the rarest or most valuable guitar that you will spend most of your time and money looking for it.
Collecting guitars isn’t about the money unless you want to sell it.  People collect guitars for one of two reasons: to play them or look at them.  You can get a more robust, classic sound form a vintage, collectible than you would from the modern versions.  For those of you want to collect guitars just to look at them, consider those Fenders and Gibsons your Picassos and Van Goghs.
