Martin Guitars

C.F. Martin & Company opened their doors in 1833.  They have become well-known for their steel-string guitars and are one of the biggest manufacturers of flattop acoustics that retail for thousands of dollars.  You can also get vintage instruments from them, which often come with six figure price tags when they’re resold.  That’s not all they’re good at doing though.  Their lines of electric guitars and basses are some of the best in the business.
The headquarters of C.F. Martin & Company can be found in Nazareth, Pennsylvania in the Lehigh Valley region of the state.  They also manufacture instruments in Mexico.  In the period between 1900 and 2000, their product selection went from 182 instruments to 24,084.
In the 1960s, musicians thought Martin guitars built before World War II were better crafted than the ones built after, so they gravitated more to those instruments.  The 1960s models were plagued with a number of issues, so it’s understandable why the musicians made this decision.  This trend continued as old models were improved.  Each change would make previously spurned instruments popular once more.
By 1990, they had produced their 500,000th guitar.  They didn’t have to wait 90 more years to see their millionth guitar built because they reached that milestone only 14 years after the previous one.  This guitar is worth $1,000,000 on the account of the 40 rubies and diamonds encrusted into the guitar.
The company tried to dabble in electric guitars, but their models unfortunately never caught on.  They have since focused on their wide range of acoustic offerings, which constitutes a majority of their catalog.
