Vintage acoustic guitars

Though you wouldn't fantasize about blowing dust off an old guitar, a well maintained vintage acoustic guitar has a sound and feel to it that will rival any high cost model made for today's consumer.  Unlike other vintage items, which are largely popular because they are collector's items that are attempting to capture a piece of history, vintage acoustic guitars actually sounds and plays better than newer counterparts.

Why is this?  What is it that makes vintage guitars so resonant?  One is that the wood, if well maintained and treated, will sound better with time.  The exact time that will pass before a guitar starts on its tragic decline into worse sound will vary, but anywhere from twenty-five to fifty years after the guitar was crafted, you should see a consistent improvement in the quality of sound.

The wood is not the only reason.  These guitars were made in a day and age that still placed a priority on the quality of musical instruments.  The quality of craft is simply higher in many of the older guitars.  That's not to say that modern guitars can't be quality.  It's simply that they're less often capable of attaining the same degree of artisanship, and more likely to be designed for cost rather than sound.

Vintage acoustic guitars will also increase in value over time, so an investment in a fine sounding instrument of this nature will be an investment that can actually turn a profit as you hold onto it and maintain it well.  That doesn't mean it can't be played, though!  These guitars are blossoming with energetic musical tone, and to not play them would simply be tragic.
