Why Guitar Straps Are Important

Putting on guitar straps may seem like a small task with little importance, but if you want to be able to play at your best (not just now, but for years to come) it's incredibly important.  There are a few things that should be clarified.  First of all, you will not want to do this just some of the time.  While standing or sitting, you'll want to use guitar straps.

The reasons are pretty straightforward.  Playing with a guitar strap gives you a specific angle on your guitar that you will want to get used to.  Otherwise, when it comes to the point that you're playing aggressive enough patterns and difficult enough setups, you'll need to re-learn your entire angle of approach to the strings.  It's not something that any guitar player will want to do, so learn the appropriate way now.

In addition to the angle of approach, having the guitar strap on can save your back from some unneeded  strain.  It's very wise to take that one minute to put on the strap each and every time.  For anyone confused about how to put on guitar straps, here is a very brief guide.

Underneath the frets but above the neck of your guitar, you'll be able to attach the top of your guitar strap.  The bottom of the strap should attach to a knob or button that's located on the bottom side of your guitar.  Put the strap over your shoulder, and adjust it to your comfort level.  Just like that, you're done.
