Yamaha, like most of the major manufacturers, covers the whole spectrum of guitars. Whether you're looking for a bass guitar, an acoustic, an acoustic-electric, or a classic guitar, Yamaha will have options for you. As far as the sound to price value, Yamaha is also very good. In general, you will see a lower price and a somewhat lower sound quality than the other guitars that will be featured in the same stores. This does not make this brand beginner exclusive, however, and the FG and the AES series are both higher end guitars that are competitive with other major brands like Fender, Gibson, and Ibanez. Each individual model of Yamaha is going to be a bit different, just like each individual model from the other major brands is going to be different, so you'll want to investigate what you're going to buy before you buy it. Look at reviews, but never let a single bad review scare you away. People like different sounds and feels for their guitars, and you'll want to look at the good and the bad before you make your final decision. If you can, it's also recommended that you go and take a few strums on the guitar you're thinking about at a local music store, even if you're not much of a guitar player. You can then buy the guitar at that store or elsewhere (like the internet) with a better idea of what exactly you're investing in. |
